Limitations of the traditional system
The conventional procedure for emptying digesters is usually done with tank trucks that inject water under pressure to remove waste and use a suction system to extract it. Although it is a widespread practice it has several drawbacks: it requires costly intervention, involves long downtimes and generates waste which must be managed separately.
These limitations directly affect the overall performance of the plant and make efficient maintenance planning difficult.
BIOCRUSH & BIOPRESS: A new approach
In contrast to this traditional model, at Protech Continental we propose a more effective, safe and fast solution. The BIOCRUSH & BIOPRESS system allows continuous digester emptying without having to stop the installation.
BIOCRUSH acts by decompacting and crushing the waste accumulated inside the digester, while BIOPRESS pumps the material directly to the plant head, specifically to the coarse well. The whole works at a constant rate of between 50 and 60 m 3/h, which makes it possible to considerably reduce intervention times and avoid the use of external trucks.
This system not only streamlines the process, but also optimizes resources and minimizes operational impact by reintegrating waste into the WWTP’s own treatment system.
Technical efficiency, minimum disruption
With this technology, digester emptying is no longer a complicated process. The time required is reduced, dead times are eliminated and waste movements are avoided. In addition, as a mobile solution, it can be deployed on different sites without the need to modify infrastructures.
