Recently, a new intervention has been carried out in an ESA in the metropolitan area of Barcelona,where there was a significant accumulation of sands, waste and sediments. This new case demonstrates the effectiveness of the cleaning system designed by our technical team.

The digester affected had a large amount of sediment, mainly sand and coarse sludge, which prevented its optimal operation. This situation is common in
digesters that have not been emptied for long periods or where the pretreatment has not been fully efficient.
Excessive accumulation reduces the useful capacity of the digester, increases the risk of failure and decreases the energy performance of the plant.

This equipment is responsible for breaking up the solid materials accumulated inside the digester, reducing its size to facilitate its extraction. Thanks to its high working capacity, it can work even on highly compacted waste.
BIOPRESS: head pumping
Once crushed, the materials are pumped directly into the plant’s coarse well,located at the head of the EDAR. This allows the waste to be reintegrated into the normal treatment flow without the need for external transport, minimizing logistics costs and operating times.
