In many sewage treatment plants (WWTP), the maintenance of pumping wells poses a challenge: how to maintain process continuity without stopping flow. This was the recent case of an SHEV which had to transfer 1,300 m 3/h of urban waste water during scheduled maintenance work.
To ensure safe and uninterrupted operation, the installation relied on Protech Rental Services, specialists in the rental of pumping equipment adapted to the demanding conditions of this type of operations.
A system designed to work under pressure
The technical solution was based on the use of two self-priming Gorman Rupp 10″ pumps, equipped with the ERADICATOR system, specifically designed to manage waste with solids such as wipes, cellulose or other common elements in urban networks.
The ERADICATOR system allows these solids to be crushed and kept in suspension, avoiding obstructions and ensuring continuous operation even under demanding conditions.
Both pumps were installed with double suction pipe, which improved the overall efficiency of the system and allowed to achieve maximum pumping capacity from a depth of 6.5 meters, ensuring a stable and sustained transfer until completion of the intervention.
The importance of operating accurately in pumping wells
Pumping wells re critical points within a WWTP. Any shutdown or failure can compromise the overall operation. Therefore, having safe and proven temporary solutions, such as those we offer at Protech Continental, allows maintenance work to be carried out without affecting the performance of the installation.
The use of high-capacity mobile equipment is key to responding quickly and effectively to specific needs, minimizing risks and costs associated with unplanned shutdowns.
